: Gunning Fire – Appeal to help the widow of Priest Seraphim Slade

On Wednesday, December 25, 2019, exactly one year since the repose of Fr Seraphim Slade, the first Australian Aboriginal Orthodox priest, the house and chapel where his widow, Matushka Elena, lived in Gunning, NSW, Australia, burned down.

Divine Liturgy was celebrated on that day, after which the worshipers went to the cemetery to perform a memorial service over the late priest’s grave.

On the way back they noticed smoke over the house and discovered that it was enveloped in flames.
