On the feast day of Theophany, the First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad, Metropolitan Hilarion, served the service of the Great Blessing of the Waters at the annual summer camp ‘RUS’ ’ of the Australian Vitiaz Association. Also serving were Archimandrite Peter (Kondratyev) from Canada and Hieromonk Tikhon (Gayfudinov) Metropolitan’s assistant. Located in the Blue Mountains town of Blackheath, the camp’s more than seventy participants welcomed the Metropolitan and his guests.

After the service, the First Hierarch and the accompanying clergy held discussions as well as question and answer sessions with the children during which a number of topics were discussed, including the feast day and issues concerning Orthodox youth in the modern world. The Metropolitan and his guests were then invited to dinner with the whole camp.

Metropolitan Hilarion remarked that despite being unable to visit the camp for several years, he was very pleased to see so many children at the camp and the continued growth of the organisation. He wished the members of the organisation and the camp’s participants strength and God’s help in their continuous work.
