: Response to attack on Christians in Pakistan

pakistan1On Sunday (22nd September 2013) a pair of suicide bombers detonated their explosives outside an historic Anglican church in the city of Peshawar. The explosions occurred as the parishioners were leaving the 130 year old church after Sunday morning services. More than 78 people were killed and close to 150 others injured. St. Michael the Archangel Orthodox Mission in Pakistan

(Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia in Pakistan)

paki_jcolony01The arson attack on the Christian settlement known as Joseph Colony Badami Bagh Lahore on 9th March 2013 brought into the news another story of religious bigotry and violence among the oppressed Christian minority in Pakistan. More than 200 houses of Christian inhabitants were set on fire by the extremist mob of around 3,000. This wanton act of violence was planned after an alleged charge of blasphemy against a Christian man Sawan Masih by a Muslim man Imran. The government of Pakistan, law enforcement agencies, electronic media and social organizations are well aware that it was a conspiracy to grab the land by the surrounding iron factory owners. With the blessing of Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad and Archbishop of the Australian and New Zealand Diocese, and following the successful establishment of the St Michael the Archangel Russian Orthodox Mission in Pakistan, the Missionary department of the Moscow Patriarchate under Deacon Fr George Maximov invited Mission Director the Rev Adrian Augustus to lecture on missions in Pakistan, its establishment, causes for establishment, its challenges and threats, the need to evangelise, to promote Russian Orthodoxy to one and all,  the importance of support of the Russian Orthodox Church MP and ROCOR, its future and finally the importance of spreading Orthodoxy in Pakistan and most importantly pastoral care to the unfortunate in Pakistan. The Mission Grows

Fr Adrian Augustus, Rector of St Michael the Archangel Church in Blacktown and the Spiritual Director of St Michael the Archangel Russian Orthodox Mission in Pakistan, visited Pakistan for the second time this year to the mission’s home city of Sargodha.

During his visited Fr Adrian was warmly welcomed by Mission Administration in Pakistan and celebrated the first Divine Liturgy under tents and a makeshift altar. About 50 people were baptised into Orthodoxy. (more…)

: New Orthodox Church opened in Pakistan

With the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion a new Orthodox church was opened in Sargodha, Pakistan on 30th January, 2012.

Rev. Father Adrian Augustus a parish priest from Sydney, Australia traveled to Pakistan to baptise and chrismate 174 people.
