Australian and New Zealand Diocese (ROCOR)

From 26-30 December 2025, Fr Gabriel Makarov accompanied a group of 18 youth to the Kazan Convent in Kentlyn to stay at the convent and fulfill physical obediences with the aim of acquiring some spiritual experience and contributing to the monastery and its sisters through their physical labour.

With the blessing of Archbishop George and the convent’s Abbess Maria (Miros), the pilgrimage was organised by the Brisbane St Nicholas Cathedral Youth and included youth from 3 other parishes in the Northern Deanery. During the convent stay, 4 other young men from Perth and Sydney also joined the group and participated in much of the pilgrimage programme.

For most of the youth, this was their first visit to a Russian Orthodox monastery. The days were filled with prayer, church services and of course, obediences. A series of uplifting spiritual talks were given by Abbess Maria, Fr Nikita Chemodakov, Abbott Dorofei (Urusau) and Fr Gabriel Makarov, covering a very wide range of topics previously suggested by the youth. В воскресенье, 15 января 2017 г, неделя перед Просвещением и преставление и второе обретение мощей преп. Серафима Саровского, Преосвященнейший Георгий, Епископ Канберрский, возглавил богосужения в св. Серафимовском храме в Бризбанe, по случаю престольного праздника. Его Преосвященству сослужили, архимандрит Феодосий (Клэр), клирик храма, иерей Гавриил Лапардин, настоятель храма и также местное духовенство.

На малом входе, настоятель храма иерей Гавриил, был награжден правом ношения наперсного (золотого) креста, за его ревностное служение на благо Христовой Церкви.

После литургии сестричеством была предложена обильная трапеза в приходском зале.

19 декабря 2015 г. в Брисбене, в столице штата Квинсленд (Австралия) торжественно отметили праздник Святителя Николая Чудотворца Мирликийского. На престольный праздник в Свято-Николаевский собор съехались прихожане из Брисбена и близлежащих городов. В совершении литургии принял участие гость из Америки – протоиерей Серафим Ган, а так же священнослужители пяти храмов Брисбена и Голд Коста (Твид Хедс). Всех с праздником и исполнения чудес по молитвам святого Чудотворца.

1 августа 2015 православные верующие Квинсленда отметили день памяти и 112-летие обретения мощей одного из самых почитаемых русских святых — преподобного Серафима Саровского.

Торжественная литургия, на которую собрались прихожане из всех русских православных храмов столицы штата Квинсленд и Голд Коста, была отслужена в Свято-Серафимовском храме Брисбена. Возглавил литургию викарий Австралийско-Новозеландской епархии РПЦЗ епископ Канберрский Георгий в сослужении священников Квинсленда. (more…)

В субботу 25 июля в русских православных соборах Сиднея, Мельбурна и Брисбена прошли службы в память 1000-летия преставления святого равноапостольного князя Владимира.

В Петропавловском соборе в Стратфилде Божественную литургию возглавил епископ Канберрский Георгий, ему сослужили священники православных приходов города — двенадцать священников и пять диаконов и протодиаконов. Прекрасно пел слаженный хор, хорошо сочетаясь с богослужением и создавая торжественную и возвышенную атмосферу. (more…)

Серафима Саровского, Первоиерарх Русской Зарубежной Церкви, Высокопреосвященнейший митрополит Восточно-Американский и Нью-Йоркский Иларион, возглавил богосужения в Св. Серафимовском храме в Бризбанe, по случаю престольного праздника. Его Высокопреосвященству сослужили, настоятель храма иерей Гавриил Лапардин а также местное духовенство и гости в священном сане.

On Sunday, 30th December 2012, the participants of the Youth Syezd attended the Divine Liturgy at St Nicholas Cathedral, Brisbane.

The liturgy was led by His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad and sung antiphonally by a male choir and a youth choir. His Eminence was co-served by the local clergy and clergy from different parts of the Diocese. On the 6th hour, reader Alexander Paramonov was elevated to the rank of subdeacon and during the Little Entrance, His Eminence awarded priests John Weir and Gabriel Lapardin the right to wear the skufia. On Saturday, the 29th of December 2012, the participants of the Youth Syezd attended the All Night Vigil at St Seraphim’s Parish, Brisbane. The vigil was led by His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad and sung by a male choir made up of clergy and parishioners from the 4 parishes in Brisbane. His Eminence was co-served by the local clergy and clergy from different parts of the diocese. The service was followed by a meal in the newly renovated church hall catered by the sisterhood. On 6/19 December 2012, the feast day of Saint Nicholas, Archbishop of Myra in Lycia, the Saint Nicholas Cathedral in Brisbane – named in his honour – celebrated it’s Parish Feast Day.

The Divine Liturgy was concelebrated by all of the clergy of the Queensland deanery.
