С 26 июня 2009 года с пастырским визитом в Индонезии находится Первоиерарх Русской Православной Церкви Зарубежом Митрополит Восточно-Американский и Нью-Йоркский Иларион, Архиепископ Австралийско-Новозеландский. В столице этой страны г. Джакарте владыка Иларион совершил Божественную литургию, во время которой рукоположил в священный сан двух православных индонезийцев. В течение своего пребывания в Индонезии Его Высокопреосвященство рукоположит еще четырех священников и диакона. Индонезийская миссия РПЦЗ успешно ведет проповедь Православия в этом регионе: уже более 2500 индонезийцев уверовали в Господа Иисуса Христа. Возглавляет миссию архимандрит Даниил (Бьянторо). Отец Даниил рассказал по телефону сайту «Православие.ру» о положении православных в Индонезии и тех проблемах, с которыми сталкивается миссия в этой стране. (more…)

31 мая, в неделю святых отцов семи Вселенских Соборов, русская православная община в городе Ворнамбул (Австралия) отметила свой престольный праздник и 10-летний юбилей храма, переданного РПЦЗ англиканской общиной. О жизни православных приходов Австралии, ситуации в христианских инославных общинах, взаимоотношениях между православными и инославными – беседа с благочинным штата Виктория, окормляющим приход в Ворнамбуле, протоиереем Михаилом Протопоповым.

– Отец Михаил, можно ли переход бывшего англиканского храма в Ворнамбуле в собственность русской православной общины назвать единичным подобным случаем?

– Нет, нельзя. В русской православной диаспоре, а также у сербов, греков, румын, болгар и других православных практика приобретения и использования опустевших неправославных храмов и превращение их в функционирующие приходы Православной Церкви была весьма распространена в XX столетии. (more…)

Jakarta, Indonesia – Metropolitan Hilarion (Kapral) of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia (ROCOR) Archbishop of Australia and New Zealand arrived in Indonesia today and served a liturgy in Jakarta were he ordained 2 Indonesians deacons to the Priesthood. During the course of his visit to Indonesia His Eminence will ordain 4 priests and 1 deacon. In the ROCOR mission of Indonesia there are already over 2500 Indonesian Orthodox parishioners. The Dean of the Indonesian Orthodox mission Archimandrite Daniel Byantoro held a press-conference with www.pravoslavie.ru to describe the difficult situation in the rapidly expanding Orthodox mission in Indonesia. Warrnambool, Australia – On the Sunday of the Holy Fathers of the 1st Eccumenical council, the Russian Orthodox community in the Australian city of Warrnambool celebrated their Parish feast day and a 10 year jubilee since the day the parish was converted from a historical Anglican Church to a thriving Russian Orthodox Parish. In mark of this event, Protopriest Michael Protopopov gives an interview to www.pravoslavie.ru to discuss the reasons why Catholics, Protestants and Anglicans are deserting their churches. (more…)

В воскресенье Святых отцов Первого Вселенского собора 31 мая русская православная община в городе Ворнамбул отметила свой 10-летний юбилей и Престольный праздник.

Обычно общину посещают около 40 человек: русские, австралийцы, греки, сербы и румыны. Но в этот раз, чтобы отметить престольный праздник и юбилей общины, собралось более 80 человек. Среди молящихся были гости из Мельбурна, Данденонга и Джилонга. (more…)

On Sunday 1/14 June, the Feast of All the Saints, His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion served Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at the old monastery Church of All Saints, Kentlyn. The church is part of the original building of Our Lady of Kazan Monastery at Kentlyn. The congregation at All Saints worships in English and is served by Hieromonk Joachim, superior of the neighbouring St John the Baptist Skete.

Serving with His Eminence on Sunday were Hieromonk Joachim, Archpriest Vladimir Boikov (visiting from Auckland, New Zealand), Father Seraphim Slade, Protodeacon Christopher Henderson, Deacon Constantine Tzortzis and Deacon Adrian Augustus. During the Small Entrance His Eminence ordained Deacon Father Constantine to the rank of Protodeacon in recognition of his long service to the Skete congregation worshipping at All Saints. (more…)

This year, the parish of Saint Nicholas in Wallsend, an outer suburb of Newcastle, NSW, celebrated its patronal feast on Sunday May 24, the Sunday after the feast.

Two important occurrences made this year’s feast-day particularly memorable.  The first was the visit of our beloved First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church outside Russia, Metropolitan Hilarion.  The second was the formal observance of the unification of a parish of the Moscow Patriarchate in Newcastle, the Theophany parish in Mayfield, with our parish in Wallsend.
