On Monday, 28 July 2014, Saint Vladimir Parish in Centennial Park, Sydney celebrated its annual feast day. The All-Night Vigil and the Divine Liturgy were celebrated by His Grace Bishop George of Mayfield together with the parish rector priest Daniel Metlenko and clergy from the Diocese.
With the blessing of Metropolitan Hilarion, priest Daniel Metlenko was elevated to the rank of Archpriest. Although the fesat day fell on a work day, the church was filled with parishioners and other faithful who gathered to celebrate the feast day of St Vladimir. After the service the sisterhood preapared a festive lunch for all who attended. (more…)

MEDIA RELEASE
The Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church in Australia is appalled at the loss of innocent lives in the MH- 17 disaster. There can be no argument to support the deliberate shooting down of a civil aircraft at any time or anywhere.
The Church expresses its sincere condolences to the families of all the victims and prays for the souls of those so tragically lost.
The Church also prays for an end to the conflict which has so dramatically divided the sister nations of Russia and the Ukraine. We urge all nations to assist in finding a peaceful path to negotiations and to stopping the bloodshed in the Lugansk and Donetz Regions of the Ukraine. (more…)

With the blessing of the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of Oceania on 19 July 2014 a Pan-Orthodox D
ivine Liturgy and Memorial Service was held in memory of the 100 year anniversary of World War I. The service was held at the Northcote Greek Orthodox Monastery, Melbourne where members of the clergy of the Greek, Antiochian, Russian, Serbian and Romanian Orthodox Churches in Australia served in their native language.
During the festive lunch Very Rev. Dr Michael Protopopov delivered the following speach for all fallen Orthodox Christians of World War I.

On the Sunday of Pentecost, Hieromonk John (Macpherson), superior of the monastery, concelebrated at Divine Liturgy and Vespers with the kneeling prayers at Saint Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church in Wallsend, NSW. The parish of Saint Nicholas is the closest parish to the monastery. (more…)

His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia Addresses the Fullness of the Russian Orthodox Church
Dear Brothers and Sisters, I appeal now to the Fullness of our Church, to all the peoples of historic Rus.
There can be nothing more important for us today than the continuing fratricide which is blazing on the territory of Ukraine, taking away more and more lives.
What is happening today, primarily in the Donetsk and Lugansk oblasts, and how are the members of our Holy Church, to assess it?
In the southern regions of historic Rus, internecine strife has now flared up.
The consequences of the bloody conflict are horrifying. No longer only a hundred, like in Kiev over the winter, but many, many hundreds have died, thousands have been wounded and left homeless. Only the devil can celebrate victory, when brothers take up arms against each other, destroy each other, maim each other, weaken the life-force of the people. (more…)
