Приветствуя вас, собратья-архипастыри, дорогие во Христе отцы, братья и сестры, со светлым, всемирным и вечным торжеством Святой Пасхи, вместе с вами от всего сердца восклицаю: Воистину Христос Воскресе!
Сколько светлой радости в этих словах! Ими уничтожаются все скорби, огорчения, невзгоды и лишения, ими даруются утешение и благословение.
Христос Воскресе! «Если бы не воскрес Христос – была бы тщетна, суетна вера наша» – говорит апостол Павел, напрасно упование наше на Христа, – но воскрес Христос и доказал этим, что Он воистину Бог, что преподанное Им учение истинно, что и вера наша истинная: Он обещал апостолам, что пострадает, умрет и в третий день воскреснет и исполнилось слово Его, – Он воскрес с нашей плотью человеческой; значит, по неложному обетованию Его, и мы воскреснем в определенное Им время. Он – Первенец из мертвых, как именуется Христос в Божественной литургии святителя Василия Великого, совершаемой в воскресные дни Великого поста, и мы, верующие в Него, оживем и с Ним будем. (more…)
24 Apr 11: Paschal Epistle of Metropolitan HILARION, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia
I greet you, fellow archpastors, and dear in Christ fathers, brothers, and sisters, with the luminous, universal, and eternal triumph of Holy Pascha. Along with you, I cry out with all my heart: Truly Christ is Risen!
How much bright joy these words contain! They destroy all sorrows, disappointments, hardships, and privations, while bestowing consolation and blessings.
Christ is Risen! If Christ be not raised, your faith is vain, says the Apostle Paul; our hope in Christ would be to no purpose. But Christ is risen, thereby demonstrating that He is truly God, that the doctrine preached by Him is true, and that our faith is true. He promised His Apostles that He would suffer, die, and rise again on the third day – and His word was fulfilled. He arose in our human flesh, which means, according to His veritable promise, that we too will be resurrected at the time determined by Him. He is “the first-born from the dead,” as He is called in the Divine Liturgy of St. Basil the Great that is served on Sundays during Great Lent. And we who believe in Him will also arise and be with Him. (more…)
21 Apr 11: His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion presides at the Holy Annunciation Parish Feast Day – Brisbane
His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia officiated at the celebration of the patronal feast day of the parish of the Holy Annunciation in Brisbane. This event marked a number of historic firsts – firstly, it was the first time that a bishop has served at the parish in 22 years. More importantly, it was also the first time that Metropolitan Hilarion has visited the parish since it was canonically received into the Australian and New Zealand Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia from the Orthodox Church of America approximately two years ago. Most importantly, it was also the first time that any bishop of the ROCOR has ever visited or served the parish since its founding in 1974. (more…)
