On 18 March 2018, the 4th Sunday of Great Lent, an unusually warm autumn day for the nation’s capital, His Grace Bishop George of Canberra celebrated the divine services at St John the Baptist Cathedral Canberra.

This was a special day as Bishop George tonsured and ordained a new generation of clerics to serve at the St. John the Baptist Cathedral and the St. John of Shanghai and San Francisco Mission in Gunning respectively.

During the reading of the hours, Andrew Dobson and Sergei Sheh were tonsured into readers. Reader Stephen David was ordained into a subdeacon then following the Eucharistic canon subdeacon Stephen was ordained into the diaconate. (more…)

On the 3rd Sunday of Great Lent when the Church commemorates the Holy Cross, His Grace Bishop George served the divine services at Sts Peter and Paul Cathedral Strathfield. Co-serving with His Grace were, Archpriest George Lapardin, dean of the cathedral, Protodeacon Alexander Kotlaroff, Deacon Michael Storozhev, clerics of the cathedral and Deacon Paul Tokareff cleric of St Nicholas church Adelaide.

25-го февраля 2018г., в день Торжество Православия, Епископ Канберрский Георгий совершил Божественную Литургию и Чин Православия в Петропавловском Кафедральном соборе в г. Стратфильде.

On 15th January 2018, His Grace Bishop George celebrated the parish feast day at St Seraphim’s Church Brisbane. Co-served with His Grace were Priest Gabriel Lapardin parish rector and clergy from the surrounding parishes. During the small entrance, priest Andrew Smith rector of the Annunciation parish was awarded the right to wear the nabedrenik. (more…)

On Tuesday, the 9th of January 2018, the third day of the Nativity, His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia and His Grace Bishop George of Canberra celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Protection parish, Cabramatta.

Following the Divine Liturgy, the clergy and the faithful attended a festal lunch, followed by the parish Yolka.

On Monday, the 8^th of January 2018, the second day of the Nativity, His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia and His Grace Bishop George of Canberra celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Archbishop’s Chapel, Croydon.

Following the Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Hilarion invited the faithful to his residence for a festal lunch.

On Saturday the 6th and Sunday the 7th of January 2018, His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia and His Grace Bishop George of Canberra celebrated the feast of the Nativity of the Lord at Sts Peter and Paul Cathedral, Strathfield.

Following the Divine Liturgy, a festal lunch was held in the church hall where the faithful joyously congratulated each other with the feast. Many years was also intoned for His Eminence whose birthday fell on the eve of the Nativity.

Рождественский день 7 января 2018 года в Сиднее собрал на праздничные службы тысячи прихожан русских православных храмов города. Лето в этом году в восточной Австралии выдалось жарким. Утром столбик термометра уже поднялся выше отметки в 30 градусов, а когда в обед люди возвращались со службы, температура перевалила за 40, а в западных районах, не останавливаясь, продолжала ползти вверх. В понедельник, 18 декабря, епископ Георгий Канберрский посетил Аделаиду и пробыл в городе несколько дней. Вечером в понедельник служили всенощную с елеопомазанием и освящением хлебов. Во вторник, 19 декабря, перед началом службы состоялось водоосвящение. Праздничное богослужение началось с торжественной Архиерейской встречи.

На службе присутствовали священнослужители из разных православных приходов Аделаиды: наш настоятель протоиерей Владимир Дедюхин, игумен Вениамин (Форбс) – монастырь Св. Пророка Илии, иерей Пётр Хилл – Англоязычная община Св. Патрикия, иерей Варнава Джеллингс – Англоязычный приход свв. Елизаветы и Варвары, иерей Милорад и диакон Горан (Сербская Православная Церковь), диакон Павел Токарев, прислужники Даниил Хилл, Пётр Жуковский и Даниил Фрай. Возглавил службу епископ Георгий Канберрский. В своей проповеди Владыка Георгий обратился к памяти Святого Николая Мирликийского. В конце службы прошёл Крестный ход. (more…)
