The celebration of the Great Feast of the Nativity of our Lord at All Saints Church, Kentlyn, was blessed with the concelebration of a number of priests from the Indonesian deanery of the Australian and New Zealand Diocese together with the local parish clergy.
On Sunday the 10th of June, the Feast of All Saints was celebrated at the old monastery Church of All Saints, Kentlyn, NSW by His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion. A part of the original monastery building erected in the 1960’s at Our Lady of Kazan Monastery, All Saints Church is well known to the older generations of Sydney’s Russian community. With the blessing of the late Abbess Evpraxia, and her successor Abbess Maria, this modest church has, since Thomas Sunday 1999, been the home of a small, but dedicated congregation which uses English in their worship, the only ROCOR congregation in Sydney to do so. Around 80 parishioners and visitors, representing many cultural traditions: Russian, Serbian, Greek, Cypriot, Austrian, Palestinian, Irish, Lebanese, Romanian, Syrian, British, Filipino and Australian, were joined by Abbess Maria and the monastery sisterhood at the feast day service. On Monday 14 November 2011 the Holy Kursk-Root Icon was brought to the Saint John the Baptist Skete, Kentlyn by Protodeacon Christopher Henderson.
An Akathist to the Mother of God was led by Hieromonk Joachim together with Protodeacons Christopher and Constantine. The choir was joined by Abbess Maria and some of the sisterhood from the Convent of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God.
Due to the unseasonal heat the akathist was served outside. This was a wonderful experience as the stars came out as the service was ending and it was very peaceful and pleasant in the green surroundings. (more…)
В начале ноября в Сиднее прошли торжественные литургии в Петропавловском соборе и на следующий день в женском монастыре в Кентлине.
3 ноября священники и прихожане Австралийско-Новозеландской епархии РПЦЗ поздравляли своего Первоиерарха Митрополита Илариона с Днем тезоименитства. На литургии в Свято-Петропавловском соборе в Стратфилде участвовали три архиерея и около 15 священников, среди них настоятели почти всех крупных храмов РПЦЗ в Сиднее и Мельбурне. По-настоящему праздничное настроение создавал прекрасный хор собора, усиленный певчими из других храмов. (more…)
The Convent of our Lady of Kazan, “New Shamordino”, in Kentlyn, celebrated its Feast Day on 22 October / 4 November 2011. In the morning the Blessing of Water was celebrated by Hieromonk Euthemy with Protodeacon Herman Polorotov.
Soon after the blessing of water the ringing of bells signified the arrival of Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia.
His Eminence served the Divine Liturgy together with His Grace Archbishop Gabriel of Montreal and Canada and six priests and three deacons.
At a “Mercy of Peace” the spiritual joy of the parishoners was greatly increased by the arrival of the wonder-working Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God with it’s guardian Deacon Nicholas Olhovsky who were brought to the Convent directly from the airport by the Dean of New South Wales, Archpriest Nikita Chemodakov. Christ is Born! Glorify Him!
The Feast of the Nativity of our Lord Jesus Christ was well attended at Sydney’s only ROCOR congregation that worships in English. Just over 70 adults and children filled the old monastery Church of All Saints at Kentlyn to celebrate the Feast, with some travelling from as far as Bowral, in the Southern Highlands, Faulconbridge in the Blue Mountains, Penrith in Sydney’s west, inner city St Peters and the Sutherland Shire to the east.
The Liturgy was celebrated by Hieromonk Joachim, superior of St John the Baptist Skete, Kentlyn, who was joined in the altar by visiting priest from the Indonesian Orthodox Church (GOI), Father Dionysios Surya Halim, Protodeacon Christopher Henderson and Protodeacon Constantine Tzortzis. (more…)
С 18 по 26 октября по благословению митрополита Астанайского и Казахстанского Александра и митрополита Восточно-Американского и Нью-йоркского Илариона, статс-секретарь казахстанской митрополии, протоиерей Александр Суворов посетил город Сидней.
В городе Сиднее протоиерей Александр принял участие в торжествах, посвященных 50-летию совместной жизни замечательных людей: Владимира и Софии Бойковых, семьи воспитавшей нескольких священнослужителей, сумевшей объединить вокруг себя многочисленную православную общину, в которой сохранили православную веру, русский язык и культуру.
