At 5.30pm on Thursday evening the 7^th of June, a public Thanksgiving Moleben to mark the Diamond Jubilee of the reign of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was celebrated at the Archbishop’s Chapel, dedicated to All Saints of Russia, Croydon.  In the presence of His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion, the Moleben was served by Mitred Archpriest the Very Revd. Dr Michael Protopopov, Archpriest George Lapardin, Priest Peter Hill and Protodeacon Alexander Kotlaroff.  Singing was provided by clergy from around the diocese.  The Moleben was attended by clergy, monastics and parish representatives from Sydney and interstate who gave thanks to God for the past 60 years of dedication and dutiful witness of our nation’s monarch.

Epistle of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia to the Archpastors, Pastors, Deacons, Monastics and the Faithful Flock of the Russian Orthodox Church on the Fifth Anniversary of the Signing of the Act of Canonical Communion between the Moscow Patriarchate and the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia

On the eve of the signing of the Act of Canonical Communion between the Moscow Patriarchate and the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia issues an epistle to the archpastors, pastors, deacons, monastics and faithful flock of the Russian Orthodox Church.

Dear in the Lord Reverend Archpastors, Honorable Presbyters and Deacons, God-beloved Monks and Nuns,  Dear Brothers and Sisters:

Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith,
from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ
in sincerity” (Ephesians 6:23-24).

Today the Russian Orthodox Church marks the fifth anniversary of the signing of the Act of Canonical Communion. This document brought to an end many years of division between the Moscow Patriarchate and the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia. We remember these events of great historical significance, representing the victory over one of the tragic consequences of the political and spiritual catastrophe endured by Russia in the 20th century. Нынешние и бывшие ученики одной из старейших русских школ в Сиднее большим балом выпускников отмечали 60-летие со дня начала ее работы.

В зале Grande Royale в районе Грэнвил собралось более 360 гостей. Балы выпускников русских школ, которые проходят в Сиднее ежегодно, одна из возможностей собрать вместе все поколения русских. Вместе с молодыми и красивыми выпускниками и старшеклассниками пришли на бал их родители, бабушки и дедушки, друзья из других школ. Большую работу провела хозяйка бала Нина Макаровна Шорникова. 30 апреля 2012 года в Мельбурне состоялась общеправославная встреча духовенства Мельбурна и штата Виктория.

В собрании приняли участие Первоиерарх Русской Православной Церкви Заграницей митрополит Восточно-Американский и Нью-Йоркский Иларион, епископ Дервийский Иезекииль (Константинопольский Патриархат), епископ Австралийский и Новозеландский Ириней (Сербская Православная Церковь), епископ Австралийско-Новозеландский Михаил (Румынская Православная Церковь), а также гости: епископ Мелитопольский Иаков (Константинопольский Патриархат) и епископ Новой Грачаницы, Средней и Западной Америки Лонгин (Сербская Православная Церковь). Christ is risen!

The feast of feasts and triumph of triumphs has arrived for us, brother archpastors, right honorable fathers, brethren and sisters beloved in the Lord!  Let us all greet the resurrection of Christ and not hide our feelings: “Let us be divinely glad, for Christ hath risen as One omnipotent.”

O wondrous and blessed night!  O night so full of joy for every Christian!  The risen Christ “changed the lamentation of the myrrh-bearing women into joy” on this night.  And He does the same for us!  This night of splendor proclaims to us His arising.  And now this “prophetic night” renews us to the depths of our soul.  And it gives us the certain hope that our departed ones, and we ourselves, will arise on the last day of the world to “celebrate the eternal Pascha in the never-waning day of the kingdom of Christ.” (more…)
