On Monday, 26 September 2022, the eve of the feast of The Exaltation of the Life-Giving Cross, His Grace George, Bishop of Sydney Australia and New Zealand celebrated the All-night vigil at Sts Peter and Paul’s Cathedral, Strathfield. Co-serving with His Grace were the cathedral clergy.

During the Great Doxology, Bishop George wearing all vestments carried the Cross to the middle of the church and the rite of the Exaltation of the Cross was served.

The rite of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross was established in Jerusalem shortly after the finding of the Cross by Saint Helena, the mother of Emperor Constantine in memory of that event and also the restoration of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. (more…)

On Sunday, 25 September 2022, the Apodosis of the Nativity of the Theotokos, His Grace Bishop George of Sydney, Australia and New Zealand, celebrated his first Divine Liturgy as the ruling bishop of this diocese at Sts Peter and Paul’s Cathedral in Strathfield. Co-serving with His Grace were the cathedral clergy.

Following the dismissal of the Divine Liturgy, the Ukase from the Council of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, appointing Bishop George as the seventh ruling bishop of the Australian and New Zealand diocese was read and many years was intoned. (more…)

Завершившийся в среду, 21 сентября, Архиерейский Собор Русской Зарубежной Церкви, в ходе обсуждения вопросов связанных с пополнением епископата и клира, определил назначить Преосвященного епископа Канберрского Георгия правящим архиереем Австралийско-Новозеландской епархии с титулом «Сиднейский и Австралийско-Новозеландский».

On Monday, 19 September 2022, the funeral service for priest David Lloyd took place at the Holy Protection Church Cabramatta, NSW. The service was led by His Grace Bishop George of Canberra and co-serving with His Grace were eight priests and three deacons from the NSW deanery.

In accordance with the funeral service for a priest within the Russian Orthodox Church, the service included the chanting of psalms and various hymns, the reading of the canon for the departed, and the reading of five epistles and five gospels. Towards the end of the service a prayer of absolution was read. Fr David was laid to rest at Pinegrove Memorial Park cemetery at Minchinbury. (more…)

Во вторник, 13 сентября, в Знаменском соборе г. Нью-Йорка состоялось избрание Архиерейским Собором епископа Манхэттенского Николая Первоиерархом Русской Зарубежной Церкви. В соответствии с Актом о каноническом общении, подписанном 17 мая 2007 года, Архиерейский Собор направит акт о состоявшемся избрании, составленный Счетной комиссией, Святейшему Патриарху Московскому и всея Руси Кириллу, с ходатайством со стороны нареченного Первоиерарха о благословении на восприятие должностей, возложенных на него собратьями-архипастырями, и об утверждении своего избрания Священным Синодом Русской Православной Церкви. Праздник Светлого Христова Воскресения, Пасха – главное событие года для православных христиан и самый большой церковный праздник. Пасхальная вечерня – одна из самых коротких, но ярких и запоминающихся служб на праздничной неделе. Запоминается она, прежде всего тем, что более десятка священнослужителей в праздничных облачениях кадят весь храм и с возгласами на разных языках приветствуют молящихся: «Христос Воскресе!», вкладывая в эти два слова все торжество Праздника, всю свою любовь и преданность Церкви Христовой! Вместе со священниками радость о Господе переполняет и сердца верующих, которые звучно и дружно откликаются: «Воистину Воскресе!» (more…)

После длинного периода изоляции из-за пандемии, духовенство Австралийско-Новозеландской епархии собралось для общего говения, сослужения и пастырского совещания.

Во вторник, 22 марта священнослужители собрались в Кройдоне,  в храме Всех Святых в Земле Русской просиявших и прочитали последование ко Святому Причащению, затем была отслужена великопостная утреня. Во время утрени священнослужители имели возможность исповедоваться у своих духовников. (more…)

On Sunday, 28 March 2021, the second week of Great Lent, His Grace Bishop George of Canberra was invited to concelebrate the Divine Liturgy with His Grace Bishop Siluan of Australia and New Zealand of the Serbian Orthodox Church at St. Sava’s College, Varroville NSW.

Co-serving with the hierarchs were clerics of the Serbian Orthodox Church Archpriests: Nikola Bilić, Sasa Stojanović, and Goran Ćećez, Protodeacon Petar Mrakić, Deacon Miloš and Protodeacon Alexander Kotlaroff cleric of St’s Peter and Paul Cathedral Strathfield (ROCOR). (more…)
