: His Eminence Archbishop George Celebrates the feast of St Nicholas in Brisbane

On May 22, 2025, the feast day of the Transfer of the Relics of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, His Eminence George, Archbishop of Sydney, Australia and New Zealand, celebrated the festive services at St Nicholas Cathedral, Brisbane. Concelebrating with His Eminence were clergy from various states of Australia and New Zealand.

Despite being a weekday, the cathedral was filled with faithful who had come from all corners of Australia, as well as from New Zealand. The cathedral choir sang majestically and reverently.
During the Sixth Hour, Archbishop George tonsured George Triysi a reader and following the Great Entrance, deacon Boris Metlenko was ordained to the holy priesthood. Fr Boris is assigned to St Nicholas Cathedral as the third priest.
The festive service concluded with a solemn procession around the Cathedral, in which all the faithful took part.
At the conclusion of the service, Archbishop George delivered a heartfelt sermon, after which the cathedral rector, Archpriest Gabriel Makarov, invited everyone to a festive meal. As always, the sisterhood warmly welcomed the guests with a variety of delicious dishes and homemade sweets.
During the meal, Archbishop George and Father Gabriel presented certificates of appreciation to members of the sisterhood and active parish workers — those who diligently and lovingly labour for the good of the parish. Following the presentation, Father Gabriel announced joyful news: two days prior, with the blessing of Archbishop George, a contract had been signed to begin the reconstruction of the cathedral grounds.
The celebration of the feast day joyfully continued with warm fellowship and heartfelt conversations.
