: Saint Panteleimon Church Feast Day, Gosford

In accordance with parish custom, the main services in honour of the Great Martyr and Healer Panteleimon, were transferred to the Saturday immediately following his commemoration. On the evening of Friday 12 August All-night Vigil was served. In addition to the rector, Father James Carles, four visiting clergymen were present: Archpriest George Lapardin, Priest Alexander Korjenewski (Carlton), Priest Simon Nekipelov (Strathfield), and Protodeacon Alexander Kotlaroff (Strathfield). : Repose of Hieromonk Panteleimon‏ (Lake)

Please be advised that Hieromonk Panteleimon (Lake) reposed in the Lord yesterday morning at 8.00am (local time, West Timor, Indonesia). Hieromonk Panteleimon was a cleric of the Indonesian Deanery (Indonesian Orthodox Church) of the Australia and New Zealand Diocese.

He will be buried Monday, June 20 in his home village in Nilulat-Kefamenanu – 230 km East of Kupangand. We ask you to pray for the soul of the newly departed Hieromonk Panteleimon.

We imagine New Zealand as a distant, fairy tale land at the end of the earth. Its landscapes have become known only recently through their depiction in the movies.

Nevertheless, few know that Orthodox parishes of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad have existed here for a half century now. Other local Orthodox churches also serve the spiritual needs of their flocks in New Zealand. Today we are speaking with Fr. Vladimir Boikov, a recent guest of Sretensky Monastery, about the Orthodox Church today, the Russian diaspora, and the spiritual problems of New Zealand society. (more…)
