22 May 25: His Eminence Archbishop George Celebrates the feast of St Nicholas in Brisbane

On April 20, 2025, on the great and radiant feast of Holy Pascha, His Eminence George, Archbishop of Sydney Australia and New Zealand led the festive services at the Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral in Strathfield. His Eminence was concelebrated by the clergy of the cathedral.
The church was filled with a festive and prayerful atmosphere. The choir, under the direction of Andrei Laptev, sang magnificently, adding spiritual depth and beauty to the service. (more…)

On April 13, the sixth Sunday of Great Lent, the Church solemnly celebrated the Feast of the Lord’s Entry into Jerusalem. The Divine Service at Sts Peter and Paul Cathedral was led by His Eminence Archbishop George of Sydney, Australia and New Zealand.
His Eminence was concelebrated by the clergy of the Cathedral. The choir, directed by Andrei Laptev, beautifully performed the liturgical hymns, creating a prayerful and reverent atmosphere.
After the Divine Liturgy, the Cathedral’s dean, Archpriest George Lapardin, on behalf of the clergy and parishioners, warmly congratulated Archbishop George on the 38th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood, as well as Protodeacon Alexander on the 27th anniversary of his ordination to the diaconate.
The choir solemnly chanted “Many Years.”
On Thursday, 10 April, His Eminence Archbishop George led the faithful in the solemn rite of the Mystery of Holy Unction at Sts Peter and Paul Cathedral in Strathfield.
Vladyka George offered words of encouragement and reminded the faithful of the Church’s call to repentance, healing and renewal in preparation for the joy of Pascha. (more…)
On April 6, the fifth Sunday of Great Lent and the day of the Forefeast of the Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos, a solemn Divine Liturgy was celebrated at the Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral in Strathfield. The service was led by Archbishop George of Sydney, Australia and New Zealand, with the clergy of the cathedral concelebrating.
In accordance with the directive of the Synod of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, all churches commemorated the 100th anniversary of the repose of Saint Tikhon, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, with prayerful remembrance on this day. (more…)
On 30th March, the Fourth Sunday of Great Lent, the Sunday of St. John of the Ladder, His Eminence George, Archbishop of Sydney, Australia, and New Zealand, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral in Strathfield. Assisting His Eminence in the service were the clergy of the Cathedral.
Following the Divine Liturgy, Archbishop George delivered an inspiring sermon on the spiritual teachings of St. John of the Ladder. He emphasised the importance of repentance and urged the faithful to turn towards God without further delay.
After three and a half years of work by a parishioner, this comprehensive history was completed to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Pokrov parish.
The book of 258 pages recounts the life of the parish beginning in 1949 to the present day with over 100 pages of text, interviews and anecdotes plus 300 images (including photographs, plans and tables).

On the third week of Great Lent, known as the Veneration of the Cross, His Eminence George, Archbishop of Sydney Australia and New Zealand, officiated the All-Night Vigil at the Sts Peter and Paul Cathedral in Strathfield. Archbishop George was joined by the clergy of the cathedral.
At the end of Matins, His Eminence performed the Rite of bringing out the Cross, symbolizing spiritual support on the journey of Great Lent. (more…)
